Arcane Object
The concept of the "Arcane Object" originates from fantasy literature and gaming contexts, where such objects are imbued with mysterious powers. Often created through ancient rituals or unknown forces, they possess extraordinary abilities, sometimes even capable of altering reality. In the contemporary technological context, I have borrowed this concept as a way to critically explore the mystique and creativity inherent to artificial intelligence.
In the generative process based on textual prompts, the creator’s instructions function like incantations, while the algorithm operates as a hidden arcane engine, transforming human intentions into forms. The resulting works combine the organic qualities of nature with the geometric logic of technology, a complexity arising from the non-transparency of algorithms—an opacity that prevents the audience from directly understanding how these forms are generated.
From the input of prompts to the generation of images, and finally to their materialization through 3D printing, the works embody a new kind of technological ritual. Through these Arcane Objects, I aim to explore the following questions: Is the generative process of artificial intelligence, at its core, a technological ritual? And how does the black-box nature of technology influence our understanding and perception of its processes?
